Leona Sue Shephard began her journey with Instagram when she set up @collectionsbyink to promote her Etsy shop and sell graphic art. It didn’t end well! Scammers stole her art and sold it on their Etsy shops.
Retired from a nursing career, having cared for her Mom who suffered from Alzheimer’s, as anyone who has left a career and been a carer for an extended period will understand, she was feeling lost and alone and needed a purpose.
Then Covid happened! There was a shortage of nurses and despite family resistance, moved by the kind of scenes that were being played out, she came out of retirement in order to help people who were scared and dying alone.
Goes without saying that this was an intense scene that she had walked back into. There were no masks, gloves or enough nurses and mayhem prevailed. When the vaccine came out 1200 staff were terminated because they refused to be vaccinated.
It was as she was headed to the parking lot one day that she saw a brick tower crumble before her! It proved to be her Tower moment! (No brick tower actually fell! It was one of those moments where the collapse of the health system was being played out before her) This vision set about a chain of events!
Despite having been bought up to believe that Tarot was evil and that those who worked with Tarot were working with the Devil, when she googled ‘Tower’ a Tarot card came up. Realising that there was a message here for her she bought her first deck.
You have to start somewhere when you have no idea about Tarot and her strategy was to create a word prompt challenge as a way of studying key words and connecting them with the cards. As you can see by recent layouts she had not only created a visual reference that she could go back to. She also has the interpretations her followers have provided.
Initially only three people engaged and completed the challenge with her. Then she asked one of these people if they wanted to help make a list and cohost. Now Leona posts every month with a different cohost.
Sue followed her heart. Now this monthly challenge draws the interest of a lot of people and it is a community that just keeps on growing.
