When people are asked to name their favourite tarot card, the Queen of Swords often comes up. Why? Much of her appeal has to do with the fact that this is a strong, powerful person who has been through a lot. So many people relate to this queen’s story. Here we have a person of tenacity and courage.

When asked to identify a card that really speaks to who she is as a creative, Jenn (JenniferAnn) Congilaro, who many know as the creator of the Not So Mystical Tarot deck, chose the indefatigable Queen of Swords.
The Queen of Swords will encourage you and uplift you to fulfill your full potential. This Queen is strong, understanding, empathetic, and willing to take others under her wing. She embodies love and can be depended on in any time of need.
“I’m an Aquarius, and I love this queen because there is no gray area with her, and that’s pretty much how I roll” writes Jenn. “My life has not been easy, and I’ve always felt the exterior of this queen reflected the same story – that this is why she is who she is. Of course poor decisions create nothing but poor situations, but when she knew better, she did better! This queen learns from her mistakes, and while her exterior may seem harsh, it’s how she protects herself. She might come off as abrupt, but she sees it as decisive. She doesn’t do drama, or have time for nonsense, which is likely why my business is NOT So Mystical Tarot! I like to cut away the fluff and get down to the bottom line, and overly theatrical woo woo (not ritual, I love ritual) that is nothing but entertainment is just not my thing.
This queen is incredibly magical, but she’s not telling her secrets, and you’ll never see her sweat. Right is right, and wrong is wrong. She doesn’t second guess herself; she knows that she knows that she knows, and if others are not on the same page, it is none of her concern. She knows where she’s going, and most likely where you are going too, but it won’t show on her face, unless you catch her trying to hide her smile, especially if she’s proud of you…
I love to write and create, and someday soon hope to make that my full time career. So far I am happy with my indie deck, the NSMT selling out four times, and while that project may be retired at this point, it is only to make room for something else I’m in the early stages of planning. I also read and review many decks and metaphysical books for a number of publishers and I feel very grateful to be considered by them as having the knowledge to do so”.
The pics I have chosen to feature show the Queen of Swords from the Calaca Tarot by Rob Medina which is an incredibly special deck for me, the NSMT (she’s so bad ass), and the Original Tarot by Montrio Studio another favorite of mine”.
